The Babcock & Wilcox Co - BWC - reported that its subsidiary Babcock & Wilcox Power Generation Group, Inc. has been awarded a $43M contract by Burns & McDonnell to engineer and supply a spray dry absorber system and a pulse jet fabric filter baghouse for Interstate Power and Light Company’s Ottumwa Generating Station power plant in Ottumwa, Iowa. The spray dry absorber system will control sulfur dioxide and the baghouse will control particulate emissions from the 726 megawatt, coal-fired power plant. Engineering work for the project is currently underway and start-up is anticipated for May 2014.
